A February for the Firsts: Part 2

First Birthday

A soft, sweet little face. Little hands and a little mouth full of cake. Beautiful brown hair, clipped in a cute little bow. And the most beautiful big blue eyes, beaming at the world around her, with the most lovely sparkle in them.

It seems like just yesterday her mom (and one of my dearest and sweetest friends) told me that she was expecting. And I will never forget when I finally got to meet sweet little Nora for the first time. Nora is one of my "adopted" nieces, and I love her just like my own two little nieces. It's completely mind boggling to me how quickly this past year has flown by! Time goes so fast, especially when it comes to watching children grow up. I wouldn't have wanted to miss celebrating this milestone with Nora for the world.

Nora definitely was a fan of the cake eating part! Once she realized that the cake was yummy and all hers, she really dug in! Nora didn't think twice about grabbing some big hunks of cake and chomping down on them. I can't say I blame her for that though, because really, who doesn't love a good cake!? One of the most beautiful things about Nora's birthday session, was the way different pieces and points were reminisce of her parents wedding. We were able to incorporate a wood slice that had been from their centerpieces for her cake to rest on. Nora's cake was a naked cake, similar to the one her parents had for their special day. And the setting and theme for her birthday had a strong nature and earthy feel. These subtle details helped the love of her parents and their little family show through her session.

Sweet little Nora, you have such a beautiful and strong spirit already. I am so blessed to have you in my life and to watch you grow up. I know your future is going to be filled with love and I fully plan to be part of that too! I have no doubt that you will do great things, you are a wonderful combination of your parents, and you are the light of their lives, and mine too! I'm sure you will keep us all on our toes, especially these next few years of toddlerhood. But I am certain it will always be worth it when those big blue eyes light up with your precious smile. I am so glad I got to celebrate your birthday a little early with you sweet girl, one looks good on you!
