The Sassaman Family Winter Photos

Family Portraits

I have always felt that family is the greatest thing there is on this earth, and this sweet family shows that they feel the same way. Their love and kindness towards one another showed through so brightly during their entire session and it made for the most lovely evening!

While we had some beautiful light to work with for their portraits, the warm spell had abruptly ended right before their portrait session and it was quite chilly that day. You wouldn't have known how cold it was from the looks on their faces though, because this family really stuck it out and were troopers through the whole thing. I think everyone loved that we were able to take the photos on their family's farm. I always find it so much more special when portraits are able to to be taken at unique locations that are meaningful to my clients.

I honestly can't even imagine having a household with five children, let alone five girls! I know what it was like growing up with three of us, and more than that boggles my mind. Somehow though, the Sassaman's made it look super easy and wonderful!!! The next too littlest one wasn't a huge fan of having her photo taken with the rest of the family, which is honestly totally normal at that age. We managed to sneak a few smiles out of her throughout the session though anyway! The way these girls each looked after one another and loved on one another was so incredibly beautiful. I found it especially sweet the way each of them just swooned over their baby sister and couldn't wait to take a turn having their photo taken with her. It was so easy to see the strong bonds that are already forming between these girls. I find that often sisters are much closer with each other than boys and these five girls certainly showed that strong connection to one another. I have no doubt that the strength in their relationships will only grow as they grow older, the way my relationships with my own sisters have evolved over the years. Sisters are the original best friends growing up, and you can learn a lot about life through them.

I think the girls' favorite part (and secretly mine too!) came at the end when they were able to bring their prized goat into the pictures! As someone who has loved animals (especially farm animals!) all her life, I am always down for including a cute loveable goat!!! The goat may have stolen the show a little bit, but I think the smiles that came out with the goat were totally worth it. The girls just exploded with laughter and excitement as they loved on their sweet little goat, which I can't blame them for in the least. The goat was a good sport about the whole ordeal, although I definitely think his favorite part was a new area of green grass to munch on. The grass is always greener on the other side when you're any type of farm animal haha!

I had an absolute blast photographing the sweet Sassaman family. It was a blessing to capture such a wonderful and kind family, and I hope to see you all again real soon!!!
