Fall with the Shaffer Ladies

Family Portraits

There is something extra special about the bond between a mother and her daughters. I'm not saying that moms don't bond with their sons, it's just that mothers and daughters tend to have a closer bond with each other. I know it's true with my sisters and I, we are all super close with our mom and share *almost* everything with her. There's probably a few horseback riding related...adventures (we'll call them that anyway ha!) that I haven't shared with my momma over the years, but that's about it for what my mom doesn't know when it comes to my life. The bond between my momma and I is so very strong and special to me, and I know that this beautiful mom, and her two lovely daughters, share a similarly strong bond. I know that because I have had the joy of knowing these three and the rest of their family since these girls were still quite little.

Way back when, what seems a lifetime ago, I used to babysit these two young ladies and their brothers. I also shared many grand adventures horseback riding with them as well. I have watched these two ladies grow up over the years, and been able to see how they have blossomed into two of the sweetest, kind, and thoughtful young ladies you could hope to know. I have no doubt that they get these traits from their mom(no offense to their dad, he's great too!) Teri has always been a blessing to everyone who knows her, especially her family. She fills her family with all the wonderful love a mother can give, and is beautiful both inside and out. Her loving support, encouragement, and guidance has surely helped both Katie and Lanie grow and mature into the women they have become today.

These three wanted to have their photos taken together on and around their family farm. I don't think any of the men in the family minded that they just wanted some girls only photos. The Fall leaves were absolutely stunning for their photos, overall one thing 2020 did give us was one of the most spectacular Fall leaves display we have had in years. I loved sharing the evening with these three, even if we didn't get to enjoy much sunlight or dreamy glowing golden hour. Their smiles radiated brighter than the sun itself when they laughed. Katie and Lanie brought all sorts of vibrant life and energy to their portrait session, and of course being the lovely young ladies they are they even had some fun poses they wanted to do too! I am always happy to mix it up a bit and do something different from my usual, I love keeping up with the posing trends!

The other place these three wanted to go was super special to them, the pond by the girls' grandparents house. I love love love it when we can incorporate locations and details into portraits that have a sentimental value. Every portrait session is special, and when you can go the extra mile to make it more precious, I see no reason not to! Teri, Katie, and Lanie's fun, easy going personalities made everything about their photos so grand, it was truly a wonderful time. Of course to end everything, we had to spend a little time playing in the leaves! That's one of my favorite things about Fall photos, the opportunity to add some simple childhood fun and play in the leaves every time the opportunity arises.

Ladies, I am so thankful to not only have had the opportunity to capture your special mother and daughter bonds, but also for the joy of being able to know each of you and your family. Your entire family is a blessing to my life and everyone that knows you, and I am so blessed to have my part in it. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for all of you and where life takes you!
