All Things Christmas

Themed Sessions

Christmas time is probably one of the most fun and joyful times of the year to take photos. Everyone is getting in that Christmas spirit and full of cheer, because it's the most wonderful time of the year! One of the bonuses about Christmas is I get to see many of my clients that come back every year. This gives me the chance to see how families and children have grown, personalities have changed, and see how everyone has evolved. I look forward to my Christmas minis all year long, literally! I was looking forward to my Christmas mini themes for 2020 from the previous fall if truth be told, because I always have too many ideas to be able to execute them all in one year! With COVID hitting though, my plans didn't all get to be followed through. Some of the ideas I had for Christmas photos, I decided to put off for the sake of keeping items being touched to a minimum. On the bright side I already have several things planned for this coming year again (as long as things work out of course!)

This year I was able to offer photos at a local Christmas tree farm again, and the results were as beautiful as ever! We even decorated my husband's Dodge pickup for some added fun truck photos! The weather we had for the Christmas tree farm couldn't have been more perfect for us too! We had some beautiful sunny and warm weather to enjoy for the photos at the Christmas tree farm, it truly turned out to be a wonderful day! I was wishing I had planned ahead a little better and brought some nice clothes along for us to get some Christmas photos, but alas my own photos are rarely well planned out. Nonetheless, everyone who joined us had a great time and we couldn't have been happier for the fresh air and Christmas cheer.

The other big event we had this year was our Christmas tractor and Christmas ring set. I find it fun to offer something a little different every year from the same old same old. I figure if a neat old Farmall tractor is going to sit in our yard all year, we might as well put it to use sometimes. I was so thankful that we had planned this all out to be in our garage as opposed to attempting outside because the weekend this all went down, was super cold and windy, and our hill takes wind to a whole other level! I loved seeing everyone with their super festive outfits, all excited for the holiday season. As an added bonus, I got to meet a few new furry friends as some families brought along their beloved dogs! As a lifelong animal lover, I always love when I get to meet new fur kids.

We also had an added unplanned bonus this year with Hot Cocoa Bath photos. After having several people ask me about putting these together, and lots of thought on if I could feasibly squeeze them into the busy holiday schedule, I finally decided to offer them and I was so glad I did! These turned out to be so stinking cute, I think we will offer them every year! The families that opted to do these messy photos loved the outcome equally as much. These were as equally cute as they were fun, I mean how can you beat adorable kiddos splashing around in a hot cocoa bath eating giant marshmallows! It was the best spontaneous shoot I ever decided to do!

2020 brought a lot of changes, even to something as normal as Christmas photos. We may have missed Santa, there may have had to be a change to plans, but Christmas spirit is something even COVID can't cancel. I am so thankful to each and every person that joined us this year for Christmas photos, and hopefully 2021 will bring about a somewhat more normal Christmas, but if not we know we can adapt and that's what matters!
