One whole year. It simply doesn’t seem possible. How can the adorable, happy, little baby I photographed as a newborn (and so many times since then) possibly be turning one year old? It seems like just yesterday I was swaddling her and carefully posing her for her newborn photos. But here we are, celebrating with cake and a bubble bath, her big milestone of being the big ONE.
Tilly has been one of the cutest little girls I know since the day I met her. She has always been so pleasant and happy, and getting smiles from her has always been so easy. I was thrilled when her momma asked me to not only capture a special cake smash session to celebrate her birthday, but also to attend her birthday party and capture all the wonderful memories being made there. I have to say, her party was definitely one for the books! Not only did she have a super fun carnival theme with some fabulous decor, but there were also tons of activities and games for all the kiddos to enjoy. Every corner I turned there was something different to be found. You could tell by the noise level when you walked in that all of the kiddos were having a blast and loved the assortment of games and prizes that were scattered about. And even though Tilly mostly wanted to be with her momma and didn’t want anything to do with her cake at her party, it still seemed like she enjoyed herself and was happy for her party.
Even more fun for me than Tilly’s birthday party though, was her first birthday cake smash session. I know it really doesn’t make sense to most people, but I absolutely love everything about these super messy sessions! Thanks to her momma’s planning, I have been looking forward to Tilly’s cake smash for months. Tilly’s favorite part was hands down the sudsy bubble bath at the end. I think she would have stayed in the tub all day if we would have let her! She quite enjoyed splashing around without a care in the world. As a side note, if you’re thinking about booking a first birthday session and your baby loves bath time, always opt for the clean up bath! It adds so many fun photos to your gallery
She may not have been overly into her cake or pictures for her birthday session, she still dug in and got a little bit of sugar in her. Her momma wasn’t afraid at all to sugar her up before going home. In addition to her super cute cake, Tilly got to enjoy the most perfect looking lollipop! From her wardrobe to her snacks, everything looked so good for Tilly’s special day. Tilly even got to enjoy some extra special photos with her parents for her birthday. I just loved how they coordinated their outfits and that dad was a good sport and joined in! All in all, I think this little girl had a pretty great week leading up to her special day.
Sweet little Tilly, watching you grow up this past year has been such a special blessing for me. I have enjoyed watching you grow, learning to crawl, and taking your first steps in this past year. I can hardly believe how fast time has flown by. You are growing into such a beautiful little girl and I feel so very blessed to be able to play my part in capturing all the changes. You and your family are an absolute joy to know, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. Happy birthday Tilly!
