One of the biggest giveaways to families that raise their children with love, is that no matter how far they travel, they always come back to their roots.
Now they might not move back full time, but they make every effort to come home as often as they can when the family is filled with love. The Spotts family is a perfect example of always coming back home.
This amazing family has traveled and lived all over the country over the past several years due to dad's job with the military. They have been able to enjoy taking in breathtaking sights on the total opposite side of the country, but there's just something special about coming home...family. With four little ones, the journey home is certainly not a breeze, but they made sure to come home for the holiday and see their family, and they even squeezed in a special family portrait session with me while they were home. To say I was honored is an understatement, because I know how precious time is when you come home to visit everyone! They know all too well how quickly time passes by, so they brought along the family members that they were able to and we captured some extra special photos for them to treasure for years to come!
I have to give credit where credit is due, because these kids were absolute rock stars for this session. It was quite chilly and a bit breezy when we did their portraits, but being on a tight schedule for being home, rescheduling really wasn't in the cards. Thankfully, I had a few tricks up my sleeve to keep them from thinking about how cold they were. While my usual go to of tickle attacks resulted in one little having a bit of a meltdown, they loved being prompted to run circles around mom and dad! And for their youngest not being able to warm up by running around, she didn't fuss a single bit until the final 5 minutes. I was in awe at how amazing these four kiddos did. There may have also been a good deal of bribe snacks consumed in between photos, because there are no limits on snacks when it comes to getting smiles!
M & S had specifically requested this location for their photos, and while I have driven past it many, many times over the years, I never really gave it a thought. They had an extra special reason behind this though, they had wedding photos taken here when they were married! I can't help but smile when I think of the beautiful story that their walls tell about their lives through the photos they display. I was of course more than happy to take some of the two of them while we left the kiddos warm up. Parents never have photos of the two of them once they have children, and while children are an amazing blessing, it's important to remember the love that started it all! Watching M & S together in a few quiet moments alone, I could see that beautiful glow between them just like they were still newlyweds.
Spotts family, thank you so much for entrusting me with capturing this beautiful and special time in your lives. I loved meeting your littles and spending time with such a sweet family as yours! I hope to see you all again when your travels bring you home!
